Mansefield Arts and Crafts of Symington
(also known as M.A.C.S.)
Soon after Eileen moved to Scotland  she became a member of the Society for All Artists - (SAA) and later was invited to be the Society's Regional Co-ordinator.
It followed soon after that there was a need to have a place where people could meet to paint and draw. and the MACS non-profit making art group was founded in 1999.   The format of the group is informal, relaxed and informative.
There are no tutors at these meetings and the members supply their own materials.  They work steadily through the year towards the annual charity show.

2006 ANNUAL CHARITY ART AND CRAFT EXHIBITION

MACS 7th annual charity exhibition
was held on 20th/21st May this year.
This year's nominated charity was The Maggie Centre, Wishaw.

A large range of paintings were exhibited in the Garage Studio and as usual cover a wide variety of subjects in all media.
In the large marquee many talented local people had many crafts on display.  This year there was the opportunity for visitors to try their hand at acrylic painting for themselves.  After seeing some of the finished projects maybe some will think about taking up painting in the future.  Many visitors also tried quilling for the first time and made themselves a small token.
There was also a spinning demonstration.
As usual the home baking stall was very popular and the knitted toys, always a favourite with the children.  Then there was the designer jewellery, the silk floral displays, photography, patchwork, quilting and not forgetting the beautiful woodwork.
The climax of the weekend was the judging and presentation of prizes to the school children who had entered the art competition.  We had 24 entries and it was a hard task to pick 3 winners.
All in all, with the donations from the artists and crafts people and the collecting boxes, we were delighted to hand over £343.00 to the fundraiser of the proposed new Maggie Centre in Wishaw.

The next MACS -  2008 exhibition
will be at
The Biggar Show
on 19th July at the Biggar show Ground
